Kasturi trek is a round trek passing Goecha la pass and offers you an extraordinary mountain views. In order to avoid backtracking the same route as on Goecha la trek, we have designed Kasturi itinerary where you will visit Lampokhari lake and some of the unexplored trails of the Kanchendzonga Natonal Park. The last two nights of the Kasturi itinerary will give you an opportunity to experience Nepali and Buddhist families home stays respectively.
Note: Trek to Kasturi is rated slightly difficult than the usual Goecha la trek as you will cross couple of more high passes over 4500m.
Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Bagdogra airport and transfer to Darjeeling, 2200m. Your guide and a driver will be waiting for you at the airport. Stay at Hotel.
Day 2: Himalayan Tow Train ride and walk through the town including visit to Himalayan Mountaineering Institute
Day 3: Transfer to Yuksom village from where your trek starts. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 4: Yuksom, 1800m to Sachen, 2200m. 3 hours walk. Warm up and to get used to of the area and altitude, the day is important.
Day 5: Sachen, 2200m to Tshoka, 2900m, 10 km.
Day 6: Tshoka, 2900m to Dzongri, 3950m. 5 hrs walk.
Day 7: Rest at Dzongri. In the morning you will walk up to the Dzongri top, 4300m to see the sunrise on Khanchendzonga range.
Day 8: Dzongri – Lamune. 4200m, 5 hrs walk.
Day 9: Lamune, 4200 m – Goecha La Pass, 5002 m – Thangsing, 3800 m (13 Kms in 8 to 9 hrs).
Day 10: Rest at Thangsing Valley. After the tiring previous day to Goecha la, you deserve a rest before head on to another challenging but worth taking route to Kasturi. During the day, you can explore the small peaks.
Day 11:Thangsing - Chamrey, 4300 m. via Lampokhari Lake. 5 hrs walk.
Day 12: Chamrey to Kasturi, 3800m. 6 hrs walk.
Day 13: Kasturi to Labdang Village, Nepali home stay at the village. After being in the mountains for sometime, you will walk down to Labdang Village where you will experience the local people’s life and welcome back to civilization : ). Nepali Homestay.
Day 14: Labdang to Tashiding Monastery overnight at the Buddhist home. Relax at clean, beutiful wooden house which stands within the monastery compound.
Day 15: Tashiding to Kalimpong. 3 hours drive. Kalimpong used to be the hub for the Tibetan refugee. Stay at excellent Orchid farm house.
Day 16: Kalimpong to Bagdogra airport. 5 hours drive.

CAMPING - Camping tents, using geodesic dome/A4, 2 persons in a tent, single tent supplied on request, mats are included but you can bring your own (optional), toilet tents and dining tent part of group camping gear. Guests need to bring their own sleeping bags.
STRENUOUS - You will need to be fit, have very good stamina, and be confident that you can trek for some days without a break. You should expect some long days, cold temperatures, high altitudes, and some tough terrain in simply spectacular scenery.
